Most homes can be made more efficient, but where is the best place to start? The GB3 Home Energy Audit is a comprehensive analysis of your home and its performance that employs the latest in home diagnostic technology. When the audit is complete, you receive a detailed report with specific, affordable recommendations for improving your home's performance.

GB3 will spend 3-4 hours in your home conducting the audit. We need about 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of the audit, and 30 minutes at the end.

The GB3 Home Energy Audit is a multi-step process that includes the following elements:

1. Utility Bill Analysis
   With your permission, we request one year of utility bill information from your utility provider before we arrive for your audit. This hard data gives us a baseline for your home's current performance and energy consumption.
2. Homeowner Interview
   The first step with all of our customers is to learn about their home. When we arrive at your home we will ask you about your home’s performance, problem areas, current utility bills, future plans for the home, and home performance topics you want to learn more about.
3. Home Tour
   After you've told us about your home, we like you to show us your home. Before beginning diagnostic testing, we ask homeowners to give us a complete tour of their home so we can learn our way around and get a feel for what performance issues we might encounter.
4. Mechanical Systems Assessment
   GB3 conducts a thorough review of your home’s mechanical equipment, including heating, cooling and hot water systems. In addition, we perform combustion air zone pressure testing to ensure that backdrafting is not occurring and adversely affecting indoor air quality.
5. Lights and Appliance Assessment
   We take note of your lights and major appliances in order to provide you with energy savings recommendations.
6. Blower Door Testing
   The blower door is one of our most powerful tools. It allows us to locate and quantify air infiltration and exfiltration. Reducing air leakage is one of the most effective ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency.
7. Insulation Inspection
   Our audit includes an inspection and evaluation of your home’s current insulation levels.
8. Infra-red Imaging
   Using one of the latest infra-red cameras designed for home energy testing, we can literally “see” the thermal difference caused by air movement and missing insulation. Our infra-red camera allows us to identify problem areas no other test can determine.
9. Radon Testing
   In Colorado, radon is a major health concern for many homeowners. GB3 conducts an initial radon test in all homes.
10. Homeowner Walk-through
    Upon completion of the audit, we walk through your home with you and show you all the performance issues we discovered. We make sure to answer all of your questions and discuss next steps.
    
    
    
    
    
    
11. GB3 Home Performance Report
    After we conduct our audit, you will receive your GB3 Home Performance Report. The report contains a prioritized list of sensible improvements as well as a complete analysis and description of what we found in your home. Our focus is on the “low hanging fruit”; the home improvements that immediately remedy your home’s performance issues and have the highest return on investment. We include our prices for completing the recommended improvements.
