Our Co-founders

Bill Lucas photoBill Lucas-Brown

GB3 co-founder Bill Lucas-Brown is an experienced green builder and licensed general contractor. He is a licensed RESNET Home Energy Rater, a LEED Accredited Professional, a BPI Building Analyst, a BPI Shell and Envelope Specialist, a BPI Heating Professional, and a graduate of CSU’s first Green Building Certificate Course.

Originally lured into green building by straw bale homes in the early 1990s, Bill has managed and/or built a number of progressive homes, including two featured on the cover of the Boulder Green Building Journal and one on the front page of Conservation Magazine. Since co-founding GB3 in 2008 with Grant Swanson, GB3 has audited and retrofit thousands of homes throughout Colorado. Bill holds a BA in Japanese and a BS in Environmental Biology from the University of Colorado. Bill has lived in Colorado since 1972 and currently splits time between Steamboat Springs and Denver with his wife Jennifer, daughter River, and son Wilson.

Grant Swanson photoGrant Swanson

Co-founder Grant Swanson has extensive business and environmental experience. He is a co-founder of the NorthStone Group, a successful Colorado-based management consulting firm. He started his green career working for The Nature Conservancy in Mexico, where he designed carbon offset reforestation projects. He later worked for the Clean Energy Incubator in Austin, Texas helping entrepreneurs launch alternative energy companies.

Grant holds an MBA and an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a RESNET certified Home Energy Rater. Grant grew up in Steamboat Springs. He and his wife, Maggie, live in Denver.

Bill and Grant met in the Presidents Leadership Class at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where they are both graduates.
